Changhua County Majoy, Wang Hui-mei appealed:
1. Cook with caution, always stay in the kitchen when frying on the stovetop: If you finish cook, or need to leave the kitchen for even a short period of time, turn off the stove to avoid the fire caused by the burning of food.
2. Unplug the appliances that are not using: Avoid using excess heat-producing appliances (such as ovens, microwave ovens, etc.) at the same time, which may cause overload and short circuit.
3. Prevent smoking materials from causing fire: Put your cigarette out in an ashtray and make sure they are really out.
4. Children playing with fire: Keep ignitable substances (such as matches, etc.) in a secured location out of children’s reach. Children should not be allowed to set off firecrackers and fireworks alone.
5. The area where water heater located is well-ventilated: According to the statistics of the National Fire Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, as of January 15th, 2021, 21 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning occurred, causing 1 death and 54 injuries. Always make sure that the area where your gas water heater located is well-ventilated. The Changhua County Government has a subsidy budget for the relocation or replacement of gas water heaters. If you need to apply for subsidies, please contact the neighboring team for application.
6. Install residential fire alarm: The residential fire alarm will sound when a fire occurs, allowing you to detect the fire early, react early, escape early, and improve the home fire warning mechanism. In order to simplify application for citizen’s convenience, the Changhua County Government has now opened the online application for home fire alarm subsidies. Anyone who has not yet applied and meets the qualifications (over 65 years old, pregnant women or with children under 12 years old in the family) can present an application. One household can have the subsidy for one alarm. No repeat subsidy for the same address. If insufficient, please purchase it by yourself and set it according to law.
