The demand for the AI industry has been booming recently. County Mayor Wang HuiMei, who attended the opening ceremony of the Erlin Fire Brigade at Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) today, pointed out that the phase 4 site of the CTSP is the largest science park in the CTSP. However, its environmental impact assessment, which stipulates that only industries with low water and power consumption are qualified for residency, results in its slow-paced investment promotion and restricts large semiconductor companies from investing on new plants in Changhua. County Mayor Wang expressed her expectation that the Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau will implement policy review and release of restrictions for the future development of the entire park so as to allow more high-tech industries, such as NVIDIA, tsmc and other semiconductor companies, to move in Changhua. According to County Mayor Wang, in addition to the wealth of wind power industries, Changhua has Erlin CTSP and planned Erlin Precision Machinery Industrial Park that are currently the only industrial land in Taiwan that are available instantly for NVIDIA and other major international semiconductor manufacturers to build new plants. Moreover, Department of Economic and Renewable Energy of Changhua County pointed out the following four major advantages of Changhua. 1. Sufficient green power supply: Changhua is ranked first in Taiwan in wind power installed capacity, and ranked second in solar photovoltaic installed capacity. Up to now, the cumulative installed capacity of the above two reaches 2.6GW in total, making it the largest renewable energy base in Taiwan. Since Changhua has the unique green power supply advantage in Taiwan, making it undoubtedly be able to meet the high electricity demand of NVIDIA's AI R&D center, it is the first choice for NVIDIA to set up a R&D center! 2. Complete and flexible precision machinery industry clusters: Google set up a data center in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, which is the first data center in the Asia-Pacific region. Due to the fact that the data center is the basis of AI, the companies set up plants in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park are able to integrate resources with Google nearby to strengthen their research and development capabilities. 3. Excellent geographical location: Changhua is located in the middle of Taiwan. It is the highway junction of the National Highway No.1 and No. 3, and the railway junction of Taiwan Railway Mountain Line and Coast Line. Moreover, for high-speed rail transportation, THSR Changhua Station and THSR Taichung Station are both available. It is hence very convenient to travel to north or south. 4. Excellent and sufficient land space: Erlin CTSP still has sufficient land so far. Its “Only for Rent, Not for Sale” policy will help to reduce the cost for industrial land, so that the saved funds are able to be used for R&D and equipment upgrades. Up to now, the park still has nearly 90 hectares of available land unallocated. The main purpose of the park is to introduce high-tech industries, such as precision machinery, optoelectronic, integrated circuit, computer peripherals, biotechnology, and green energy. Various high-tech industrial companies setting up plants here will receive abundant industrial support from each other.
