BaiShaKeng Lantern Parade (白沙坑迎燈排), the Lantern Festival event with the longest history in Taiwan, will be held from February 10th to 12th (Lantern Festival) at the Wende Temple in Huatan Township. On the morning of February 5th, a promotional press conference was held at the Wende Temple, attended by Changhua County Mayor Wang Hui-Mei, Huatan Township Mayor Ku Sheng-Min, Wende Temple Chairman Li Hsi-Kuei, and other distinguished guests. They encouraged everyone to experience this unique folk activity and to enjoy the cultural beauty of Lantern Festival. The annual BaiShaKeng Lantern Parade event, which is the most culturally distinctive traditional lantern festival in Taiwan, was registered as an important intangible cultural heritage of Changhua in 2008 and has been passed down for 197 years. Together with the sky lanterns in the north and the beehive fireworks in the south, the lantern parade in central Taiwan is renowned for its significance in celebrating the Lantern Festival. This year, the exciting event will take place over three days from February 10th to 12th. Among the highlights, the "Moon Blocks Divination for Lucky Money" activity will be held on February 11th and 12th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM each day. Participants who get a “yes” in moon blocks divination will receive the lucky money. The "Handheld Lantern Distribution" activity will take place starting at 6:00 PM on February 10th, and at 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM on February 11th and 12th, with 400 free handheld lanterns available each session on a first-come, first-served basis.
