To promote arts and culture at the grassroots level and encourage public participation in cultural activities, the Changhua County Government launched the 2026 Thanksgiving Gala – Township Arts Touring Program. The sixth performance took place on the evening of May 24 at the parking lot beside Huxi Elementary School in Xihu Township, with County Mayor Wang Hui-Mei joining residents to enjoy the performance. This event featured the internationally renowned performing arts troupe Coming True Fire Dance Group, presenting Divine Fire of Xihu. Through a fusion of fire dance, lighting, music, and spatial design, the troupe delivered a visually stunning and artistic performance. This breathtaking cultural feast transformed the motion of flames into a language of art, attracting more than 4,000 audience members. The Coming True Fire Dance Group is one of Taiwan’s most iconic contemporary performing arts troupes. For years, they have dedicated themselves to innovating the art of fire dance. By blending acrobatics, circus arts, dance, martial arts, and theatrical storytelling, they deliver breathtaking, immersive performances that leave audiences spellbound. Over the years, the troupe has been a highlight at major domestic arts festivals and large-scale events, while also being invited to perform internationally, showcasing Taiwan’s creativity and artistic vitality to audiences around the world. The production Divine Fire of Xihu was inspired by the town’s history, culture, and faith, weaving together fire, music, and body movement to narrate the emotions rooted in the land. Drawing inspiration from Xihu's sugar industry heritage, the performance evoked images of vast sugarcane fields and towering factory chimneys, reflecting the hard work, daily life, and collective memories that have shaped the town. The show also featured a special performance by the Huxi Elementary School Inline Skating Club, whose vibrant and dynamic performance brought fresh energy to the production, beautifully demonstrating how local arts education continues to flourish while fostering stronger community connections across generations. The 2026 Thanksgiving Gala – Township Arts Touring Program runs from April 11 through June 13, presenting a total of nine performances. Each show begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free to the public. Three performances are still scheduled: on May 30 at the Erlin Township Library Auditorium featuring the Taipei Percussion Ensemble; on June 6 at the Hemei High School Gymnasium with FOCASA Circus; and on June 13 at the Changhua County Stadium, where the Con Bello Symphonic Band will present the program’s grand finale. The public is warmly invited to visit the participating townships and experience the diverse and vibrant charm of the arts.
