After three thrilling days of competition, the 2026 Lukang Dragon Boat Festival Celebration Series – International Dragon Boat Race came to a successful close on the evening of June 21 at the Fulu River. This year's event brought together 173 domestic and international teams, with athletes braving the waves and paddling with determination, embodying teamwork, perseverance, and true sportsmanship. The Lukang Dragon Boat Festival Celebration Series is one of Taiwan's most renowned folk celebrations, with the dragon boat races serving as its most iconic highlight. This year's fiercely contested championship, featuring an impressive 173 participating teams, drew unprecedented crowds, attracting more than 60,000 spectators in a single day and filling both riverbanks with cheers and excitement. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage and tourism appeal of Lukang's dragon boat tradition. The county government and the Dragon Boat Committee worked hand in hand to enhance the scale and quality of the competition and encourage participation from top teams. This year, the championship prize money for divisions with more than 40 teams was increased to NT$300,000, underscoring the high standards of the event and positioning Changhua as a premier destination for dragon boat athletes. By integrating Lukang's rich history, local cuisine, and tourism attractions, the festival aims to drive regional economic growth, making traditional celebrations and sporting events a powerful force in city branding. The finals were marked by electrifying energy, with drums pounding and crowds roaring as teams paddled in perfect rhythm and sprinted toward the finish line with remarkable coordination and determination. Their performances delivered a series of exciting and highly competitive water sports spectacles for spectators. After intense competition, the top teams in each division emerged victorious.
