The Changhua County Government has actively promoted water environment improvement projects along the Dongluo River. The Dongluo River (Beidou Ferry Pier and Pitou Kapok Trail) Cultural Green Corridor Water Environment Improvement Plan was completed in May 2026. The inauguration ceremony was held today (June 22), presided over by County Mayor Wang Hui-Mei and attended by elected representatives and local residents. Section One, the Beidou Ferry Pier Cultural Green Corridor Facilities Establishment Project, stretches approximately 1.5 kilometers from Beidou Bridge on Provincial Highway No. 1 to Qixing Bridge on Shennong Road and highlights the historical significance of the ferry pier. Key features include a symbolic entrance, dock, ferry pavilion, and a reconstructed boat-style platform, connecting the Beihitu Riverside Park hydro-environmental education space and strengthening the cultural ties between the Dongluo River and Beidou Old Town. Additional facilities include a boat-themed playground, sandpit, shaded rest areas, senior-friendly gathering spaces, and upgraded scenic restrooms, creating a recreational environment suitable for visitors of all ages. Section Two, the Pitou Kapok Trail Riverside Enhancement Project, includes a newly constructed 500-meter pedestrian boardwalk beside Zhongxi Bridge. The project also features an upgraded entrance landmark and environmental education displays. These improvements significantly enhance both safety and comfort for visitors enjoying the blossoms, taking walks, and relaxing. The annual kapok blossom season consistently attracts large numbers of visitors and is expected to further stimulate regional development in the future. In addition, the Dongluo River (Shipi Bridge to Old Railway Bridge) Green Corridor Project was completed at the end of 2025, creating an 8.3-kilometer riverside trail connecting Beidou and Pitou. Together, these projects establish a comprehensive Dongluo River tourism corridor and are expected to further expand leisure and tourism opportunities throughout the region.
