The Changhua County Junior Orchestra will travel to Macao on August 17th of Year 115 (2026) to participate in the 16th Macao YSO (Youth Symphony Orchestra) Music festival. Recently (on the 9th), Changhua County Mayor Wang Hui-mei visited Nanguo Elementary School to encourage the members. The Mayor, accompanied by orchestra directorate principal Wang of Nanguo Elementary School and other officials. The Mayor praised the members for sacrificing their holidays and diligently practicing their skills. She encouraged them with determination and passion to embrace the challenge of international exchange, urging them to utilize music to transcend borders, broaden their global perspective, and transmit the beauty and hope of Changhua to the world. Mayor Wang pointed out that music transcends language and national boundaries, allowing Changhua to shine on the global stage. Over the years, the orchestra has left its mark internationally, performing in Vienna’s Golden Hall in Austria and exchanging culture with local musical groups in Okinawa, Japan, using beautiful melodies to convey the members’ confidence and excellent skills. This year, the county government also dedicated nearly NTD $960,000 in special funds to support the junior orchestra’s participation in the Macao Festival, where they will exchange performances with outstanding ensembles from various regions. Mayor Wang stated that since establishing the Junior Orchestra and Children’s String Ensemble in Changhua County in 2010 and 2011, the county has continuously built a complete system for cultivating musical talent. Currently, members of both groups range from primary to high school levels. Through age-appropriate training and linkage mechanisms, they are provided with a stable and systematic learning environment. The county government allocates NTD $2.4 million annually to fund operational needs and hire top-tier instructors, maintaining deep collaborations with Tunghai University and the Music Department of National Taichung University of Education. By incorporating off-site training and professional expertise from universities, they continuously improve teaching quality and performance standards, successfully enriching Changhua’s local artistic foundation.
